About Kindred Grace
Are you tired of man-made rules?
Are you stuck in the mold of who someone else thinks you should be?
Do you want to find out who you were made to be?
Might you even be wondering if true love still exists?
We’ve been there, too.
But we believe that true love, real freedom, and authentic identity can be found only in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We believe there is no room for self-righteousness or for self-condemnation in hearts that have been given life by His transforming love.
And we know that God still writes the best love stories.
What if this were the next chapter in your story…
What if you could feel freedom from the man-made rules that have controlled you for so long?
What if you could give the grace you long to receive in your relationships?
What if you could feel secure in your identity?
What if you could have your faith restored in a God Who still delights in making dreams come true?
When you join the Kindred Grace community, you are coming alongside others who are learning to let God write our story with grace upon grace.
God is writing a story for each of us. This is mine…
My name is Gretchen. When I turned thirteen, I began my quest to be different from my peers. I chose my clothes and my music and my activities and my words carefully. I wanted to look good. I made myself rule after rule, making sure to explain my own personal convictions to everyone else, sincerely unaware of my sin of boastful pride.
Then I went to visit a family who had a lot of their own rules, too. When I came face to face with what my “convictions” really looked like, I saw them for the Pharisaical laws they really were. I realized that without His grace, all my righteousness was as filthy rags.
But it’s not easy to shed years of legalism all at once. As much as I delighted in my newfound freedom in Christ, I still found myself drifting back to the false sense of security that rules provided.
Now that I’m a wife and mom, I’ve discovered that life isn’t as easy as the paint by numbers I imagined in my teens. And many days, I long for someone just to give me a step by step guide for raising obedient children, loving my husband well, and being a compassionate friend. Now, more than ever, I see the appeal of man-made rules.
But now, more than ever, I see the beauty and freedom to be found in pursuing hard after Christ alone.
I started Kindred Grace because I longed for fellowship…
It is in the iron sharpening iron of my friends and sisters in Christ–true kindred spirits–that I continue to find my way back to grace alone.
We meet each other here in our imperfection and brokenness to bask in His grace.
