Our Bookshelves
A room without books is like a body without a soul.

Click the images for captions and close-up views of the bookshelves of the YLCF Team Members (those who aren’t in the midst of cross-country moves and beginning deployment, that is!). And start taking pictures of your own books: we’re having a bookshelf photo carnival next week!
I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.

What delight in immediately recognizing the Susan Wise Bauer book on Lanier’s shelf! I have the very same with big dreams of following the reading plans. If only I could convince my children that I need that uninterrupted time. π
Oh, Ladies! How wonderful to get a peek at your beautiful bookshelves! May I ask you, Lanier, about the set of red volumes on the fourth shelf down in your glass-doored case? Are they from the Harvard Classics series? I only ask because they remind me of the set of those that my grandma has in her library.
Thanks again for posting these wonderful pictures! π
Hello, Abby–
The red books are actually a turn of the century collection of the works of Dickens, almost complete. π
Hi again, Lanier
Thanks so much for answering my question, and best of luck in completing your beautiful set! π
My fiancee gave me a complete set for my first birthday since we’ve been together!
Thank you for a fun ten minutes in the middle of my day! π And thank you so much for sharing pictures of your bookshelves …
I’m looking forward to the carnival next week! π
Gretchen – I laughed out loud when I saw a copy of “Milly Molly Mandy” on one of your bookshelves. I was brought up on the many adventures of Milly Molly Mandy! I hope your little girls love the stories!
I’m a book lover myself so I enjoyed peeking into your libraries. Lanier, I’ve collected Grace Livingstone Hill’s books from I was a teenager and have a shelf dedicated to them as well. Gretchen, I spotted a Bobbsey Twins mystery on you shelf that took me back to my childhood years.
Thanks for sharing your treasures.
Oh, what fun to see all of your books and recognize many of the same titles.
Hehe…I’m seeing a lot of the same books on your shelves as on mine, Gretchen! π
