Why Kindred?
“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”
(Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery)
A cantankerous, red-haired orphan and an amiable girl with raven locks become the best of friends. Not a likely pair, but Anne and Diana were kindred spirits.
The bond of their friendship went beyond appearance and temperament. As does ours.
“Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.”
(Colossians 3:14, NASB)
We are a family — kindred sisters in Christ.
Our bond is built on God’s grace, a grace that transcends our differences.
We are a community — kindred friends.
We gather here in fellowship to encourage each other in every season of life.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
(Proverbs 27:17 NIV)
In our joy and in our brokenness, we remain kindred spirits. And together, we are learning to let God write our story with grace upon grace.
“I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.”
(Colossians 2:2, NLT)
